Prayer Shawl Ministry

St. Paul's is Prayer Shawl Ministry is well underway. Thanks to Cathy Ritz who has helped organize things. Quite a few shawls have gone out to comfort those in time of need. St. Paul's is just one of many churches in throughout the country who have started "knitting ministries" where parishioners get together to knit these prayer shawls.

Homespun Prayer Shawl Pattern

Use size 10 1/2 to size 15 needles. Requires 3 skeins of Homespun. Cast on 63 stitches (or any multiple of three, like 54, 57 or 60). Knit three, purl three to the end of the row. Turn and knit the purl stitches and purl the knit stitches. Knot about 2 2/3 skeins in the pattern. Use the rest of the yarn for fringe, which can be from 3" to 9" long. Knot the end of the fringe to keep from frizzing. HAPPY KNITTING!
